Short answer
What is a thoughtful retirement gift?
A good retirement gift looks back and forward: a thank-you for the past and something for the free time ahead. A painted portrait of the people or pet they will spend that time with does exactly that.
From colleagues or from family
Colleagues often choose a portrait of the retiree or of the team. Family members choose a portrait of the grandchildren or of the couple, for the new chapter at home.
